For brothers- and sisters-to-be, this presentation is held in conjunction with the Expectant Parents Tour. The Big Brothers and Big Sisters program includes a story and demonstration of taking care of the new baby and a tour of where mother and baby will stay while in the hospital. Reservations are required.

Healthy Mom & Baby Exercise Program During Pregnancy

Exercise has numerous benefits for you and your unborn baby, so this is a great time to consider appropriate exercise. Pregnancy and postpartum are times to increase and maintain your fitness. Moms-to-be come together for fun, low-impact fitness classes at Riverside Wellness & Fitness Center - Peninsula. Nutrition Counseling For Good Health
Proper nutrition is important throughout life but it is especially crucial during pregnancy. Changes that occur in your body may require a specialized diet to better manage diabetes, high blood pressure or other conditions. Massage

Labor Techniques with Comfort Measures
This 2-hour class will show a variety of comfort measures and coping techniques for labor. Measures and techniques include releasing tension and relaxation, breathing patterns, positive labor positions, use of a birthing ball, dealing with back labor, use of heat and cold, visualization role of the labor partner. Back to Work & Breast-feeding
This is especially for women who breast-feed and will be going back to work or school. Some topics included in class are:

  • Preparations for your baby once you return to work or school
  • Selecting the right type of breast pump for your needs
  • Tips on transitioning from breastfeeding to breastfeeding and pumping
  • Safe storing, refrigeration, freezing, transporting, thawing and feeding your milk to your baby
  • Scheduling
  • Child care
  • Tips for maintaining and maximizing your milk supply after returning to work or school

It is recommended that you take this class when you are pregnant. However, if you have a long maternity leave, you may choose to take this class after your baby is born, but at least four weeks before you plan to return to work or school. You may bring your baby to class with you.

    Friends and Family Infant CPR

    It's unlikely the need would arise, but if it did you would want to know exactly what to do. This class is designed for parents, grandparents, family members, friends and anyone else who might be caring for your baby. It will tell you how to recognize the need for CPR. Basic CPR and choking prevention will be presented. No certification will be provided.

    Rookie Dads
    Rookie Dads class prepares expectant dads to face the challenges of being a new dad. This free 2-part class shows dads how to take care of their baby's needs, how to interact with their new baby, and gives great tips from a father's perspective taught by a certified Fatherhood Consultant. Both session include lots of great take home information as well as complimentary resource bags full of father-friendly items.

    Riverside offers a variety of support groups for our community. Three of our support groups are as follows.

    Breastfeeding Moms Get-Together
    This FREE service is a wonderful resource for new moms! At our Breastfeeding Moms Get-Together, meet other breastfeeding moms in a supportive environment. Our International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC's) will discuss various aspects of breastfeeding to help develop skills and boost confidence. We are here for you and weight checks for babies are available .
    Siblings are welcome, too. Free valet parking is offered at RRMC front entrance just steps away from our meeting place.
