This designation is earned and evaluated annually. It recognizes hospitals that have demonstrated the highest quality of care and places RRMC among the top five percent of hospitals in the country. It means that RRMC can treat the most complex stroke cases, including 24/7 availability of:

  • Advanced imaging techniques
  • Staff trained in vascular neurology, neurosurgery and endovascular procedures, including the treatment of ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes; brain aneurysms, including placement of the pipeline device; AVMs (a tangle of blood vessels in the brain); dural AV fistula (abnormal connections between an artery and a vein); and carotid artery stenting, among others.
  • Neuro ICU facilities and capabilities
  • Experience treating patients with large ischemic strokes, intracerebral hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage
  • A dedicated stroke-focused program
  • Coordination of post-discharge care
  • A team dedicated to clinical research and sharing outcomes
