She'd done it time and time again.
Jumped onto her sailboat.
But this time several years ago, the landing from a jump radiated pain through Constance Coling's leg, eventually bringing her to Dr. Hugh Bryan, who performed her total knee replacement.
"Although not at first," Constance said. "I appreciated that he took a real conservative pace for me," attempting to repair torn ligaments and "clean out arthritis" before replacing the joint.
"Turned out there was too much damage," Constance said.
Today, Constance is playing tennis on her new knee and running after her grandchildren. "I have the freedom to do whatever I want and don't feel restricted at all."
Including on her boat.
Constance is still jumping on her boat, she admits. She's just a little more careful now.
