Riverside Sports Physical Therapy proudly offers the following Sports Performance Classes to the community for those 7 years and older.

Experience a program built for athletes who strive to achieve high-level performance!

Our team of Sports Performance Specialists will you help individually, or your team collectively, reach personalized identified goals. Whether it be improvements in strength, power, speed, or agility, we will develop a program to fit your goals. Our small-group classes will focus on different areas that include vertical jump enhancement, improving power/speed, as well as adult fitness.

Vertical Jump Enhancement

“Power Hour”

“Power Hour” is a dynamic and science-based athletic development program that places a significant emphasis on vertical jump performance. Designed to enhance athletes’ vertical jump abilities, this 60-minute class employs a strategic approach that focuses on building up “braking” mechanisms, training the body to decelerate effectively, and ultimately generating force in a vertical plane.

Athlete Measurements:

• Y-Balance assessment of single leg performance
• VALD Force Decks power & symmetry metrics that measure vertical plane performance

Unlocking Power and Speed

“Velocity Surge”

“Velocity Surge” focuses on utilizing a combination of simple and advanced technique plyometric drills, all backed by science-based principles. By incorporating extensive plyometrics and sprint mechanics, we specifically target improving 10-yard, 30-yard, 40-yard, and even 60-yard sprint time and performance to develop a more powerful athlete.

Athlete Measurements:

• VALD Smart Speed to assess speed and agility through a laser-gate timing system
• VALD Force Decks power & symmetry metrics that measure vertical and horizontal performance

Holistic Approach to Adult Fitness

“Ignite Fit”

“Ignite Fit” is an invigorating fitness class designed specifically for adults who are committed to improving their overall fitness levels. The class is centered around functional training with a strong emphasis on movement and high-performance workouts that are guaranteed to be fun and burn calories. The sessions will include continuous monitoring with testing and subsequent re-testing to ensure progress is being made.

Athlete Measurements:

• Y-Balance assessment of single leg performance
• VALD Force Decks power & symmetry metrics that measure vertical and horizontal performance

 

“Power Hour”

Dynamic and science-based athletic development program that places a significant emphasis on vertical jump performance.

Tues: 5:00-9:00 PM (4 separate classes by age)

Ignite Fit (Adult Class): Monday & Wednesday- 6:00-7:00 AM

 

Power Hour (Vertical Jump)

7-11 y/o: Tuesday- 5:00-6:00 PM

12-14 y/o: Tuesday- 6:00-7:00 PM

15-17 y/o: Tuesday- 7:00-8:00 PM

18+: Tuesday- 8:00-9:00 PM

 

Velocity Surge (Speed/Power)

7-11 y/o: Thursday- 5:00-6:00 PM

12-14 y/o: Thursday- 6:00-7:00 PM

15-17 y/o: Thursday- 7:00-8:00 PM

18+ y/o: Thursday- 8:00-9:00 PM

Monthly Group Class Membership (Velocity Surge, Power Hour, Ignite Fit) - $120/month

James Fiorella is the Sports Performance Specialist for Riverside Health, leading programming for all sports performance. In his role, James works collaboratively with the entire Sports Medicine team as well as the local community to design and execute programming to improve the well-being of every athlete he works with. Prior to Riverside, James worked as the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator at Chowan University and as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at Norfolk State University. He specializes in developing programs for both youth and global athletic development. He is credentialed as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) as well as USA Weightlifting (USAW) and Functional Movement Systems (FMS).
