If you stay overnight at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Riverside Walter Reed Hospital or Riverside Doctors' Hospital Williamsburg, your care will be managed by a hospital physician called a hospitalist.
A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in caring for patients during an inpatient hospital stay. When admitted to a Riverside hospital, the hospitalist works with you and your primary care physician to coordinate your care until you are discharged.
There are several advantages to having a hospitalist manage your care:
- Because our hospitalists are on site around the clock, they are able to closely monitor your condition and make treatment, testing or medication adjustments quickly.
- Your hospitalist is available to answer questions and communicate with your family.
- When you are discharged, our hospitalist will coordinate your care with your primary care physician to ensure a seamless transition back to outpatient care.
