Colorectal cancers are the second leading cause of cancer death affecting both men and women, but when found early, they are highly curable. Colon cancer affects the lower part of your digestive system, the large intestine, while rectal cancer affects the last several inches of the colon. It's important to be screened through endoscopic colonoscopy screening or high-sensitivity stool testing, because most people with colorectal cancer have no symptoms. Most cases begin as small, noncancerous or benign clumps of cells called polyps. Over time some of these polyps can become colon cancers.
