Both types of radiosurgeries deliver exceptionally precise state-of-the-art radiation therapies for the treatment of benign or malignant tumors, lesions and conditions. Radiosurgery combines the ability to deliver large amounts of radiation in a very short period of time to very small tumors and lesions with submillimeter accuracy.

Radiosurgery is a noninvasive radiation therapy. This “knifeless” surgery uses a linear accelerator with precision radiation beam shaping capability. Each beam is customized individually, allowing for precise treatments for tumors and lesions of all shapes. Treatment is “incisionless”, virtually painless, and patients recover much faster than with conventional surgery.

Radiosurgery may be used as the primary treatment or recommended in addition to other treatments that are needed, such as surgery or chemotherapy.

Treatment is extensively personalized because every patient’s tumor, lesion or condition is unique.

Care is personalized to you, meticulously planned by the expertise of a multidisciplinary team. 

The Riverside Radiosurgery team includes radiation oncologists and medical physicists to create the best radiation treatment available. Neurosurgeons are part of the radiosurgery planning team when areas of the brain are involved.

Using medical imaging, the team models the tumor in three dimensions with highly sophisticated computer programs. This model is used to custom design the dose of radiation that conforms with sub-millimeter accuracy to the three-dimensional shape of the tumor that will be targeted by the linear accelerator.

The advanced technology of radiosurgery protects the patient’s healthy tissue and organs around the targeted area, limiting potential radiation side effects and toxicity.
