Jane D. McKinney Driver Rehabilitation Program
Center for Excellence in Aging and Lifelong Health
The Jane D. McKinney Driver Rehabilitation Program, named for a generous donor who received supportive services, includes Senior Driver Safety Assessment, Adaptive Driver Assessment and Training, and Driver Training for Teenagers with Disability. This award-winning program is one of only a few in the region with a focus on evaluating the skills and abilities of drivers, particularly older drivers. Individuals may seek an assessment following an illness or stroke or because they are experiencing a change in abilities, perception, judgment, or memory due to cognitive changes.
In addition to driver safety assessments, we provide training in modified vehicle equipment and adapted driving strategies for those with physical or cognitive disabilities. This program enables those experiencing a change in abilities to regain a sense of independence and quality of life.
Individuals may refer themselves to the program or be referred by their primary care provider, family members or Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
