Caring for the elderly goes far beyond medical treatment. At Riverside, we seek to enhance the lives of our older patients, giving them a sense of comfort, engagement and community. We provide care that keeps our seniors healthy and safe while empowering their independence. Through Riverside Health programs, many older adults enjoy community living or, with the aid of a personal care team, are able to remain in their own homes.
Riverside Lifelong Health programs provide medical care, but also enable senior citizens to live near family and loved ones, to be comfortable in their surroundings as they continue to do the things they enjoy for a healthy, active lifestyle. The cost of senior care can take its toll, and many of our patients depend on government aid that often falls short of the high cost of health care. Your generous support helps those with financial needs to receive the treatment they need at the level of care they deserve.
We provide support for Lifelong Health through the following initiatives:
Household Model of Care
At Riverside, we want to raise the standard of care by transforming nursing homes into houses. Heron Cove, the first Household Model of its kind in Virginia, eliminates all of the institutional elements of nursing homes and replaces them with features, such as private rooms and living areas that make residents feel at home and at ease. This model enables older adults to live both safely and comfortably.
Neuroscience
Your support can help patients suffering from memory loss, dementia, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease.
Hospice Care
During difficult times, it's important to focus on the things that matter most. Our compassionate hospice team is dedicated to providing the support your loved one needs so you don't have to concentrate on anything but your time together. We take a holistic approach, providing those with terminal illness the medical care and support they need to be comfortable and feel well and in charge of their own destiny. Those facing the end of their journey often feel a loss of control, but we empower our patients by providing care where they feel most comfortable, most often in their own home.
