About Zachariah Bach Nealy, MD

Zachariah B. Nealy, M.D., is a fellowship-trained, board-certified cardiology physician who specializes in advanced cardiac imaging, sports cardiology, heart disease, high blood pressure, cardiomyopathy, ischemia and valve disease. He uses the most up-to-date heart imaging techniques, including echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, cardiac CT and cardiac MRI to determine the correct problem and help his patients return to the activities they enjoy.   

After his undergraduate degree from William & Mary, Dr. Nealy earned his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. He completed an internal medicine residency at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania and a fellowship in cardiology with the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. He subsequently completed a Master of Education in exercise physiology and an advanced cardiovascular imaging fellowship at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Dr. Nealy is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also board certified in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and cardiovascular computed tomography.  

Dr. Nealy is dedicated to helping those afflicted by heart disease and advancing the field. His research focuses on using advanced imaging techniques to understand changes in the heart under various conditions, including disease, surgery, during exercise and while undergoing chemotherapy. 

Dr. Nealy enjoys staying active with hobbies including weightlifting, rock climbing, archery and martial arts. Originally from Hampton Roads, he is glad to be back in Virginia with his young family and dog. He appreciates the sense of community in the region and at Riverside Health.
