About Thomas Edward DiCarlo, MD
Thomas DiCarlo, M.D., is a pain management physician treating neck, back & spine issues & sciatica with noninvasive and minimally invasive techniques. Trained as a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician, sometimes called a physiatrist, Dr. DiCarlo dedicates his practice to helping patients manage their pain and feel better through proper diagnosis and comprehensive treatment plans. With many musculoskeletal or nerve problems, patients can get great relief from pain through techniques or a combination of techniques such as physical therapy, injections and medication. As a native Virginian, he loves helping his neighbors find relief from their pain and get back to the activities they love.
As an undergraduate at James Madison University, he created the Biotechnology undergraduate degree program and was its first graduate. Since then there have been over a thousand people that have obtained a Biotechnology degree from JMU.
Dr. DiCarlo earned his medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School where he also completed his residency program in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Following his residency, he worked in both Blacksburg, Virginia and the Olympia, Washington area caring for patients through a combination of physical and occupational therapy, medical management and injection procedures using both fluoroscopy and ultrasound modalities. Dr. DiCarlo is a member of the American Medical Association and the Spine Intervention Society.
Having vacationed often in coastal Virginia as a child, Dr. DiCarlo continues to appreciate all the activities the region has to offer. In his free time, he enjoys getting outside with his family to hike, snowboard, camp, swim and boat.
