General Surgery

Joining Riverside Health System as a general surgeon, Dr. Hamdani returns to his home state of Virginia after serving in the Army and deploying to Afghanistan and Iraq. His work treating combat-related trauma earned him several military honors, including two Army Commendation Medals and a NATO Medal.

Board certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Hamdani studied medicine at the Medical College of Virginia before completing his residency at Staten Island University Hospital. As an undergraduate, he studied biology and astronomy at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA.

Striving for holistic care, Dr. Hamdani regards patients as partners in the decision-making process. He was initially drawn to surgery for the opportunity to improve patients' quality of life, and his goal is for each patient to have the same experience that he would want his loved ones to receive. His surgical specialties include acute care and elective general surgery, complex hernia repair and hernia surgery, gallbladder surgery, breast surgery, skin and soft tissue surgery and minimally invasive surgery.

In his spare time, Dr. Hamdani can often be found spending time outdoors with his wife and rescue dog. A native of Northern Virginia, he enjoys the history, food and especially the friendly people of this region.
