About Michelle Renee Jowdy, DO

Dr. Jowdy is an award-winning, board-certified pediatrician who has practiced for more than 12 years. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine, after completing undergraduate school at the University of Cincinnati. She trained as a resident at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California, where she was appointed chief of pediatric residents. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

During her eight years as an active-duty Naval officer, Dr. Jowdy earned multiple military decorations, including the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and two Meritorious Unit Commendations. She also supervised residents and visiting medical students and was a faculty member at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland.

After being stationed in San Diego and at the Naval Hospital in Bremerton, Washington, Dr. Jowdy practiced in Dallas. During that time, she earned “Hall of Fame” recognition at Baylor Scott and White Pediatric Care and was named to Dallas Fort Worth Child magazine’s “Mom-Approved Pediatrician” list for five years in a row.

Dr. Jowdy adheres to an evidence-based approach, safely incorporating natural or complementary treatments when possible. She considers it a privilege to care for children as they grow and strives to develop trusting partnerships with patients and their families. For new parents and newborns, she offers breastfeeding guidance and specialized care for preterm babies and multiples. She also helps kids and their families navigate asthma and allergies, obesity and mental health issues.

Aiming to help parents navigate through challenges while celebrating the milestones, Dr. Jowdy says her favorite part of her job is guiding families through the exhausting (but also exhilarating) journey of raising a child from birth through young adulthood.

Dr. Jowdy is happily married with an active family, including three children and a “spunky” pup named Toby. She enjoys mountain biking with her family, hiking, running and yoga
