About Maen D. Abou Ziki, MD
Maen D. Abou Ziki, M.D., a fellowship-trained cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist specializing in treating patients experiencing irregular heart rhythms, known as arrhythmias, through medications and interventional procedures such as ablations and device implantation. Ablation procedures can address multiple complex arrhythmias including ventricular tachycardia (VT or V-tach), supraventricular tachycardias (SVTs), atrial fibrillation (AFib) and atrial flutter. Dr. Abou Ziki also performs device implantations to help manage heart failure and left atrial appendage occlusion device implantations, also known as Watchman placement procedures, which help prevent stroke in patients with AFib.
Dr. Abou Ziki earned his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medicine–Qatar where his research in molecular cardiology and arrhythmia genetics sparked his interest in the heart’s electrical system. He completed a residency in internal medicine, where he was named chief resident, at the Yale–Waterbury Internal Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Abou Ziki completed a fellowship in cardiology with Yale New Haven Hospital and a fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. He is triple board certified in cardiovascular, electrophysiology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Abou Ziki aims to enhance his patients’ survival and quality of life by bringing them the latest technological advancements and the safest techniques. He views his role not only as a doctor but also as a coach, guiding his patients in choosing the best treatment option that is aligned with their objectives and goals of care. Additionally, he is passionate about employing ablation techniques with minimal to no fluoroscopy in order to minimize radiation exposure for the benefit of his patients.
Born in Lebanon, Dr. Abou Ziki is fluent in both English and Arabic. His favorite activities outside of work include kayaking, swimming, hiking, reading and traveling. Dr. Abou Ziki moved to Virginia to be closer to family and he enjoys the moderate climate.
