About Leana S. Long, MD
Leana Long, M.D., is an experienced ophthalmologist and surgeon. She enjoys helping her patients see better by managing glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration and dry eye syndrome. Dr. Long prides herself in providing cutting-edge treatment to help her patients see better. She was one of the first ophthalmologists on the Peninsula to perform SLTs, a laser treatment for glaucoma. She offers professional eyelid treatments to help sore, inflamed eyelids and evaporative dry eye disease and has expertise using Botox to treat medical conditions such as facial spasms. In addition to the outstanding level of medical care she provides, her patients appreciate the compassion they receive.
Dr. Long received her baccalaureate degree with honors in neuroscience from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. She then worked as a researcher in the Department of Molecular Neurobiology at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Long earned her medical degree at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina and an internship at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Virginia. Later, she completed her medical and surgical residency training in ophthalmology at the University of Texas, San Antonio. Dr. Long is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Outside work, Dr. Long enjoys participating in local running events and treasures her time with her two children.
