About Karen Elizabeth Fish, MD
Dr. Fish earned her medical degree from Harvard University. She completed an OB-GYN residency at Brown University, followed by a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at the University of Chicago Medical Center. She is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Drawn to the OB-GYN specialty for the depth of experience and variety it entails, Dr. Fish’s ultimate passion is to teach and perform minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. With extensive training and 13 years of experience, she serves as Riverside Regional Medical Center’s director of GYN surgery, specializing in laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and a variety of outpatient and office procedures.
Recognizing that women often neglect their health in favor of other responsibilities, it is imperative to Dr. Fish that all women benefit from a faster, less painful recovery and are empowered to return to their lives. Because she believes medical care should take into account each woman’s personal life situation, she is careful to listen to her patients as individuals.
Originally from Connecticut, Dr. Fish was a collegiate diver at the University of Connecticut before moving to the East Coast for medical training. After living in Chicago for 13 years, she relocated to Hampton Roads with her two small children, who she says have made her a better person and physician. Dr. Fish loves spending time outdoors and working out, especially by practicing kickboxing and yoga.
