About Eric Daniel Hudgins, MD
Eric Hudgins, M.D., Ph.D., is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon specializing in spine and brain surgery. He focuses on the comprehensive surgical care of degenerative spine disease, brain tumors, tumors of the spine, spine fractures, complex spine disorders, spinal deformity, and peripheral nerve surgery using advanced neurosurgical techniques. Dr. Hudgins’ primary objective is improving patients’ lives through the latest medical innovations and collaborative treatment plans.
Dr. Hudgins earned his medical degree and a Ph.D. in neuroscience from Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, North Carolina. He completed his residency in neurosurgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and a fellowship in neurosurgery with the Capital and Coast District Health Board at Wellington Hospital in New Zealand. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
Dr. Hudgins feels fortunate to take care of people, alleviate their symptoms and improve their quality of life. After witnessing his grandparents suffer from neurological diseases, he was inspired to pursue neurosurgery. His approach is team-based, working with other medical professionals to improve patients’ health and well-being.
A native of North Carolina, Dr. Hudgins spent his summers working on his grandparents’ farm in Virginia. He continues to enjoy time with family and friends and staying active outdoors. His favorite activities include kayaking, swimming, hiking, running and cycling.
