About David Mathew Romano, MD
Dr. Romano is a fellowship trained trauma surgeon specializing in complex injuries, particularly involving the pelvis, hip socket and joint areas, in addition to acute and chronic bone infections. He also has expertise in minimally invasive techniques to care for non-healing or improperly healed fractures.
Dr. Romano earned his medical degree from the West Virginia University School of Medicine in 2010. He completed an orthopedics residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in 2015 and an orthopedic trauma fellowship at the University of Kentucky in 2020. Dr. Romano is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
After residency training, Dr. Romano began his medical career by serving the U.S. Army for four years, including deployments to Afghanistan and Northern Africa, doing the fulfilling work of caring for soldiers and their families.
Dr. Romano believes in a team approach to medical and surgical treatment, with the patient being an important, active member of the team. To facilitate this approach successfully, he strives to keep open lines of communication, continually assessing and adjusting the treatment plan based on patient progress, while treating the entire patient — not just the injury.
Originally from north central West Virginia, Dr. Romano loves the rich history in our area along with its rivers and beaches. He and his wife, Kisley, a dentist, have two children, and the family enjoys outdoor activities like camping and hiking with their dogs. Dr. Romano’s hobbies also include traveling, skiing and scuba diving.
