Michael Oshiki – President, Riverside Regional Medical Center
Dr. Michael S. Oshiki is the President of Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA. He joined Riverside in 2022 after retiring from the Army, where he served as the commander (Chief Executive Officer) of William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX and Fox Army Health Center in Huntsville, AL. Dr. Oshiki also served in operational assignments as a command surgeon (Chief Medical Officer) at every level from battalion to corps in both conventional and special operations units. He additionally served in clinical assignments as a department chief at Madigan Army Center in Tacoma, WA, and McDonald Army Community Hospital in Newport News. His final assignment before retiring was serving at the Pentagon as the Assistant Deputy Secretary of the Army for Health Affairs. Dr. Oshiki has extensive experience in the practice of full-spectrum family medicine, as well as in teaching and research.
After earning dual Bachelor of Science Degrees in zoology and history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he served for seven years as a Combat Arms officer in the US Army. Dr. Oshiki then went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the Uniformed Services University and completed a residency in Family Medicine at DeWitt Army Community Hospital in Fort Belvoir, VA, where he served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Oshiki was selected as a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians in 2007, has been a member of the Uniformed Services Academy of Family Physicians since 1998, and is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the American Association of Physician Leadership.

Thomas Taghon – Chief Medical Officer, Riverside Regional Medical Center
Thomas Taghon, DO, MHA, is Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Riverside Regional Medical Center. His focus is advancing safety and quality to ensure that all Riverside patients receive optimum care. Dr. Taghon has extensive leadership experience and formal training in quality improvement and assurance.
Dr. Taghon’s most recent position was Chief Medical Officer at HCA–Reston Hospital Center. Previously, he held the title of Associate Chief Medical Officer at Dayton Children’s Hospital, where he also served as Division Chief of Pediatric Anesthesiology.
Dr. Taghon received his D.O. degree from Ohio University and completed his anesthesia residency at the Naval Medical Center–Portsmouth and his pediatric anesthesia fellowship at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. He holds a Master of Health Administration from Ohio University and received formal training in Healthcare Delivery Improvement at Intermountain Healthcare in Utah. His Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy is from Butler University in Indiana. He has won numerous awards, including the CRNA Award for Excellence in Clinical Care.

Sadie Thurman – Chief Nursing Officer, Riverside Regional Medical Center
Sadie Thurman joined the Riverside team in 2006 and is currently the VP/Chief Nursing Officer at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia. She has more than 20 years of professional nursing experience and a strong clinical background in emergency medicine and critical care. Thurman has held key hospital-based leadership roles in emergency services and nursing. She is an adjunct faculty member for the graduate nursing program at Old Dominion University.
Thurman received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Old Dominion University, her Master of Science in Nursing–Health System Management from the University of Virginia, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Montana State University–Bozeman. She sits on multiple community boards and is active in a variety of nursing organizations.
