About Jane Shufun Wey, MD
Dr. Wey earned her medical degree from the University of California San Diego School of Medicine. After completing residency training in general surgery at the University of California Davis Medical Center, she completed a surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Wey is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Wey’s interest in cancer care originated during high school volunteer work and was strengthened both by surgical training and personally knowing many people touched by the disease. Recognizing the vulnerability cancer can create, Dr. Wey translates evolving technology and biological understanding in a way that helps people grasp what is happening. Putting patients at the center of medical care, Dr. Wey believes in providing the best care for them as a whole, rather than solely focusing on the disease process.
With publications in national medical journals, Dr. Wey also has extensive experience in education, having held assistant professorships in surgical departments at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and Louisiana State University. She specializes in hepatobiliary surgery, minimally invasive oncologic surgery, sentinel node biopsy, cytoreduction, heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy, gastrectomy and pancreatic surgery.
Originally from California, Dr. Wey is a Harvard alumna who spends her free time hiking, traveling and scuba diving. She also enjoys social dancing such as Argentine tango, salsa and swing.
