About Frankie Lee Powell Jr., MD
Frankie L. Powell Jr., M.D., is a fellowship trained hematology and oncology physician specializing in all forms of cancer but has a strong interest in blood cancers, including multiple myeloma, leukemia and lymphoma. Dr. Powell’s philosophy centers on bringing patients compassionate, personalized and comprehensive care. He is dedicated to increasing access to clinical trials, addressing cancer disparities in our community and building caring relationships with patients and their families.
Dr. Powell earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Portsmouth, Dominica. He completed an internal medicine residency at the WellSpan York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania and a hematology-oncology fellowship at Louisiana State University Shreveport in Louisiana. Before his medical training, he earned a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. He is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
A native Virginian, Dr. Powell enjoys access to the water for his favorite hobby, fishing. When he’s not at work or fishing, he enjoys traveling, watching documentaries or the Dallas Cowboys, playing ping pong and spending time with his family, friends, and French bulldog.
