About Ernest Francis Zichal, DO

 

Dr. Zichal earned his medical degree at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He completed his surgical residencies at Palms West Hospital in Florida and at Saint Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, NY, where he was chief surgical resident. Dr. Zichal completed a Vascular Surgery Fellowship at the Deborah Heart and Lung Center. He is board-certified by American Osteopathic Board of Surgery.

Dr. Zichal specializes in the treatment and management of arterial disease. He has a special interest in using minimally invasive procedures to re-establish blood flow in areas of need. He particularly enjoys the continuity of vascular care, which enables him to build long term relationships with his patients.

Dr. Zichal is originally from a small, farming community in Iowa where his father was a family practitioner. Now, living and working on the Virginia Peninsula, he enjoys the history and natural beauty of our area.

When asked if about discontinuing Plavix before surgery, he has no concern about me continuing It. In his notes he states that he covered a lot of the possible problems. I do not recall him addressing those Issues. After reading his notes, I understand the risks.
