About E Ronald Hale, MD/MPH

E. Ronald Hale, M.D., MPH, is a board-certified radiation oncologist specializing in short course radiation therapy for cancer treatment, including stereotactic radiosurgery, volumetric modulated arc therapy, gamma knife, and brachytherapy.  He has extensive experience treating all cancer types with a special focus in prostate and women’s cancers.  

Dr. Hale earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology summa cum laude from Canisius University in Buffalo, New York. He completed his medical degree at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and a Master of Public Health degree at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore. Dr. Hale trained in radiation oncology at the University of Rochester’s James P. Wilmot Cancer Center in addition to residency training in public health and general preventive medicine at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.  He completed his internship at Andrews AFB in Washington, DC.  

Dr. Hale is a 24 year Air Force veteran serving as an experienced flight surgeon, public health physician, and Cancer Center Director for the 88th Medical Group at Wright Patterson AFB, Dayton OH. He was introduced to the field of radiation oncology and found his true calling as a cancer doctor when his father was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Dr. Hale believes that we are now in a new era of cancer treatment seeing cures happen in situations that were previously thought to be hopeless.   

Having frequently visited Hampton Roads, Dr. Hale is happy to now work and live in the community with his wife. He enjoys the area’s diversity, geography and rich history. In his spare time, Dr. Hale likes cooking, downhill skiing, listening to music, taking long walks and woodworking.
