About Andrea G Avalos, MD

Dr. Andrea G. Avalos earned her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine and completed her residency at Montefiore Medical Center. She did her undergraduate work at Boston University focusing on biology and French language and literature. She is currently pursuing board certification by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Avalos specialized in family medicine partly because she wanted to help meet the huge need for primary care doctors. She also likes how, in family medicine, she can get to know her patients and build strong, long-lasting relationships. She considers educating her patients and guiding them toward better health to be one of her most important roles as a physician. Dr. Avalos sees health as a team effort between doctor and patient and believes that everyone deserves information to make the best decisions possible.

Born and raised in Peru, Dr. Avalos provides care in both English and Spanish. She enjoys traveling to distant places, hiking, swimming, painting and trying out new foods. Since moving to the United States, she’s lived in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and New York. She enjoys exploring Virginia’s cities and natural landscapes with her husband. And, as a big fan of seafood, she’s particularly excited to live close to the beach.
