Savannah Joy Laird, Pharm.D., MPH
I am originally from Dahlonega, Georgia, and moved to Birmingham, Alabama following my undergraduate studies at Berry College. In Birmingham, I completed my Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Public Health at Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy. My professional interests include critical care, geriatrics, and endocrinology. I pursued a residency at Riverside because of the supportive environment, various clinical experiences, and the overall focus on compassionate patient care. Outside of pharmacy, I enjoy reading, puzzles, neighborhood walks, and trying new restaurants. I also run a tiny circus that includes an intelligent German short-haired pointer, an overly affectionate cat, and a just happy-to-be-included pittie.
Lillian Luong, Pharm.D.
I am from Bristow, Virginia. I completed my undergraduate and Doctor of Pharmacy education at the University of Rhode Island. My professional interests include ambulatory care, cardiology, and oncology. I decided to pursue a PGY1 residency at Riverside because of the wide range of rotations that aligned with my clinical interests and the supportive environment that will foster both my professional and personal development. In addition, I enjoyed seeing the koi pond and medicinal garden during the hospital tour. In my free time, I enjoy crocheting, playing video games, trying new restaurants, and going to aquariums.
Allea Maurakis, Pharm.D.
I am originally from Poquoson, Virginia, and completed my undergraduate education at Christopher Newport University. From there, I attended Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy. I chose to pursue a PGY1 at Riverside due to the positive culture within the pharmacy department, and the reliance of pharmacy-driven services and expertise by all members of the patient care team. More notably, this program stood out to me for the supportive and encouraging environment it creates for the residents to grow into confident, skilled pharmacists. My clinical interests currently include critical care and internal medicine. Outside of pharmacy, you will find me at Virginia Tech football and basketball games (Go Hokies!!!), on the bay or river fishing, going to the beach, and ensuring my English bulldog, Beau, isn't escaping the yard.
Andrea Rivera-Burgos, Pharm.D.
I'm originally from Bayamón, Puerto Rico, but moved to Albany, New York to complete both my undergraduate and Doctor of Pharmacy education at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS). During that time, my husband and I moved to Hampton, Virginia as part of our first military move. My professional interests include ambulatory care, internal medicine, and geriatrics. I pursued residency at Riverside because of the supportive environment, great interprofessional culture, and teaching and learning opportunities. During my free time, I enjoy traveling, trying new cooking recipes, and spending time with family and friends.
