Riverside Medical Group is pleased to announce Kimberly Escalera, MSN, FNP-C has joined the team, and is accepting and serving patients in two Riverside primary care offices – Riverside Cape Charles Medical Center and Riverside Eastern Shore Physicians & Surgeons in Nassawadox. Escalera’s addition to the primary care teams further extends Riverside’s ability to provide families on the southern end of Virginia’s Eastern Shore with fast and convenient access to skilled medical care, including same-day appointments.
A Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Escalera enjoys family medicine and the opportunity to care for people of all ages while they transition through the stages of life. She looks to build lasting relationships with each patient and provide holistic care tailored to the individual.
“My work is focused around the patient as a whole and not just focusing on the current condition or illness at that moment,” said Escalera. “I am dedicated to working with patients throughout their journey toward a healthy life.”
Escalera is especially interested in pediatrics and diabetes care. Emphasizing the importance of continuing education, she stays on top of the latest advances in preventative medicine, working to reduce the impact of chronic conditions.
Originally from southern California, Escalera moved to Virginia 10 years ago and has fallen in love with the Eastern Shore’s laid back lifestyle and small town community feel. Away from the office, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and two children and reading a good book.
Escalera earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degrees at Old Dominion University. Earlier, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience from the College of William & Mary.
Riverside’s primary care practices in Parksley, Cape Charles and Nassawadox are recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as being Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Homes (PCMH). This means that the clinics meet high standards of quality care including short waiting room times, same day appointments, specific protocols for patients with chronic conditions, an electronic health record accessible to everyone on the health team, and coordinated care between primary and specialty providers.
