Riverside continues designation as one of a select few Operation Family Caregiver partners nationally, providing valuable coaching and support programs for caregivers of military veterans
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Riverside Center for Excellence in Aging and Lifelong Health (CEALH) is hosting a Caregiver Appreciation Luncheon on Tuesday, February 27 in Norfolk, VA especially for caregivers of post-9/11 military veterans. Attendees will enjoy a free lunch, have a chance to win great raffle prizes and learn more about the Operation Family Caregiver (OFC) support program.
OFC coaches the families of returning service members and veterans to manage the difficulties that come with coming home. OFC is a personalized program, tailored specifically to the struggles of each family. Through proven methods, the program teaches military families the skills needed to best navigate their challenges, resulting in stronger and healthier families. OFC is a program of the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving (RCI), begun with catalytic funding from Johnson & Johnson.
OFC partners provide free and confidential support through specially trained coaches. Coaching is done in the home or by phone/Skype to create a customized 16-24 week program that is unique to each family.
Riverside CEALH has announced that it is continuing its partnership with OFC, offering valuable coaching and support programs to caregivers of military veterans throughout Virginia free of charge for another year. In collaboration with the Virginia Department of Veterans Services, Riverside CEALH is one of a select few OFC partners nationally who received an additional year of funding.

Special guest Laura Bauer, MPA, National Program Director for Operation Family Caregiver at RCI, will be presenting at the February 27 luncheon. Bauer is the co-author of RCI's signature training program and has co-authored numerous journal articles on the topic of caregiving. Additional details are as follows:
