Riverside Tappahannock Hospital Receives Top Grade

Riverside Tappahannock Hospital received an "A" grade for its commitment to safety in the Hospital Safety Grade, which rates how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, errors, infections and accidents. ?It was one of 828 hospitals nationwide to receive a top score.

"We're excited to receive this A grade again since it reinforces that we are making steps in the right direction to maintain quality and ensure patient safety at our hospital," said Erica Jenkins, Director of Quality at RTH. "Patients coming to our hospital can be confident that our hospital provides the highest level of care based on national quality standards."

Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.

"Hospitals that earn top marks nationally in the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, have achieved the highest safety standards in the country," said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. "That takes commitment from every member of the hospital staff, who all deserve thanks and congratulations when their hospitals achieve an 'A' Safety Grade."

Esther Desimini, Vice President and RTH Administrator, agreed on the importance of quality recognition. "This is a great way for consumers to evaluate the quality of care they can expect to receive at hospitals in the area. We're happy to be able to tell our story of safe, high quality care close to home. We've made an ongoing commitment to patient safety as part of our mission to caring for others as we would care for those we love, and this top score only strengthens that commitment. ?It's proof to ourselves and our community that those efforts are paying off."
