Patriots Colony New Director of Nursing Committed to Exceptional Care

Williamsburg, VA – Patriots Colony is pleased to announce that Melinda Martin has joined the retirement community as its Director of Nursing, leading the campus-wide team of providers who care for residents in long-term care, rehabilitation and memory support areas.

Patriots Colony is one of three Riverside Health System Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC). Located in Williamsburg, Va., Patriots Colony offers multiple levels of care –from independent living to nursing –for former military officers and federal civil servants as well as their spouses.

Melinda Martin Director of NursingMs. Martin graduated from the Riverside School of Professional Nursing as a Registered Nurse and has spent the last fourteen years in various nursing roles. For the past eleven years Ms. Martin has worked in long-term care and rehabilitation, of which ten years she served as the Director of Nursing.

She felt compelled to become a nurse as a result of her experience caring for her grandfather who was diagnosed with a terminal illness.

"After witnessing the wondeRiverside Foundationul care my grandfather received from hospice, I felt nursing was my calling," she said. "My purpose is to care for others with dignity and respect."

Ms. Martin is a Williamsburg native. She has three children, two of whom attend public schools in Williamsburg. Her eldest attends Bridgewater College. Ms. Martin enjoys the proximity in Williamsburg of her extended family.

She has dedicated herself to providing exceptional nursing care in her community and looks forward to serving the residents and guests of Patriots Colony.
