. Robert Aston, Jr., Alexis Swann, and Gordon L. Gentry,

Riverside Health Foundation is proud to announce a generous transformational gift from TowneBank in support of For Those We Love: The Campaign for Neurosciences. This contribution, part of TowneBank’s significant commitment to Riverside, will enhance and expand services across our facilities, empowering integrated care teams to deliver exceptional inpatient, outpatient, and long-term care. For over a century, Riverside has been a trusted partner for patients and families facing conditions affecting the brain, spine, and nervous system. Access to world-class, coordinated care close to home remains vital for achieving the best possible outcomes.

Riverside Health’s Neurology and Neurosurgery services are truly world-class and are uniquely positioned to meet the growing need for advanced neurological care, providing innovative solutions for our community.

"As our population ages, the demand for specialized memory care and stroke treatment continues to rise. At the same time, the growing behavioral and mental health crisis, including addiction, has significantly increased the need for services across all age groups," said Mike Dacey, M.D., President and CEO of Riverside Health. "In addition, we are seeing an exponential rise in neurodevelopmental disorders, particularly in five major diseases: Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS, Huntington’s, and Alzheimer’s. These trends underscore the need for expanded access to high-quality, comprehensive neurological and behavioral health care."

The partnership between TowneBank and Riverside continues to play a vital role in enhancing care and strengthening community connections.

“TowneBank’s commitment to supporting Riverside goes back to when the bank was founded in 1999. Our organizations have grown in tandem over the past two decades, both in footprint and through a shared commitment to our local community,” shares Dacey.

The gift from TowneBank makes a significant and lasting impact for the standard of care in our community. It enables Riverside to go beyond what insurance covers, offering personalized and compassionate patient navigation, assistance with transportation and medication costs, educational resources, and more— all at no cost to the patient. By prioritizing people and programs, Riverside is able to provide life-changing and life-saving care to the communities we serve.

“We are extremely proud to partner with Riverside Health as they continue to provide top-notch, comprehensive neurosciences care throughout our region,” said Alexis Swann, President of TowneBank Peninsula and Williamsburg. “Providing new and enhanced services and resources for patients and their families is needed now more than ever with the growth of neurological conditions, memory disorders, and the rise in mental health needs across our communities.”

Bob Aston, TowneBank Founder and Executive Chairman continued, “For more than 100 years, patients and their families have turned to Riverside Health when facing illnesses or injuries to the brain, spine, and nervous system. Our region and the greater Commonwealth will continue to face complex health concerns, and TowneBank is proud to support Riverside Health in its mission to care for others as they would care for their loved ones for the next century and beyond.”

Kristen Witt, Chief Philanthropy Officer, Riverside Health, adds, “Philanthropic investments are essential to Riverside Health’s ability to elevate and accelerate access to life-changing and life-saving care, enhancing patient outcomes. As our population ages and we see surges in mental health crises and addiction, this support becomes even more critical and allows us to meet these rising demands and ensures that patients and their families do not have to travel for world-class health care.”
