Our 2024-2025 PGY-1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residents
Erica Bell, PharmD, BS.
Dr. Erica Bell is a dedicated pharmacist with over 17 years of experience and is currently a PGY-1 Community-Based Resident with Riverside Health. Prior to her residency, she was an outpatient pharmacist at the Womack Army Hospital in Fort Liberty, NC and a relief pharmacist for Walmart. Dr. Bell also worked as an outpatient and anticoagulation pharmacist at UNC Southeastern Regional Medical Center from 2012 to 2022 . Her dedication to excellence was honored with multiple organizational awards, including the prestigious BEAR of Excellence Award in 2017 and the Outpatient Pharmacist in Charge recognition award twice.
She holds a Doctorate in Pharmacy from Hampton University and a bachelor's degree in biology from Fayetteville State University. Additionally, Dr. Bell has achieved advanced certifications from the American Pharmacist Association in Diabetes Care, Pharmacy Immunization, Medication Therapy Management, and Pain Management.
Before embarking on her pharmacy career, Dr. Bell taught science at EE Smith High School, where she earned her Advanced Placement Environmental Science Instructor Certificate. She is passionate about inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals, regularly volunteering at health fairs and offering scholarships to minority students pursuing careers in medicine since 2015. Dr. Bell has also contributed to her community as a Think Smart 40 Under 40 nominee in Harnett County and received the Unsung Shero award from the Rho Omega Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha.
A strong advocate for service and education, Dr. Bell enjoys mentoring aspiring medical professionals and actively participates in community outreach initiatives.
Amanda Murray, PharmD
Amanda Murray, PharmD, is a recent graduate of St. John’s University, in Queens, NY, and a current PGY-1 community-based pharmacy resident at Riverside Health, with interests in ambulatory care and community advocacy. Amanda has experience working with patients in primary care and has previously supported remote patient monitoring initiatives for chronic disease states such as hypertension, heart failure, diabetes, and COPD.
As a member and former president of the student chapter of AAPP at St. John’s University, Amanda has partnered with multiple organizations to raise awareness for suicide prevention; most notably with Active Minds to bring the Send Silence Packing exhibit to the St. John’s campus in 2021. Amanda actively volunteers with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and was also recently selected for a month-long elective experience with APhA, where she will be working on well-being initiatives in April 2025.
In her free time, Amanda is an avid runner, and once ran across the country with the Ulman Foundation’s 4K for Cancer program during the summer of 2019. You can find her exploring any nature park, finding new trails to run on, trying new restaurants, or spending time with friends and family.
