We are looking for residents who want to serve their communities and provide compassionate, whole-person care, regardless of status or circumstances. As a member of the 2024 inaugural class, you will have the opportunity to help shape the culture of the program.

Meet Our Teaching Faculty

We are a categorical residency that will challenge you while giving you the support you need in a collegiate environment. Our academic faculty have been selected for their devotion to teaching and dedication to making our program a success. We are committed to resident welfare and our curriculum includes dedicated time to build a sense of camaraderie and resiliency among residents and their families. We work hard to maintain a culture of wellness, teamwork and inclusion, providing each resident with an assigned a faculty advisor/mentor to help them achieve their personal goals.

Internal Medicine Residency Program

Riverside Regional Medical Center is a Community Based 450-bed hospital and the Peninsula’s only Level II Trauma Center. We are also a recognized Chest Pain Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center. With a diverse patient population, many uninsured or underinsured, we have a positive impact on our community. Given our population and their pathophysiology, our residents will manage complex patients.

The area offers a variety of local attractions, including Virginia’s Historic Triangle (Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown), the Virginia Beach oceanfront and the Shenandoah Valley, all within driving distance. You can experience all four seasons, the mountains and the ocean during your time with us. Local public schools are some of the best in Virginia, and the area is family-friendly, with attractions like Busch Gardens and Water Country USA close by.

Apply to our Residency Program

All applications to our residency program must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We utilize the National Residency Match Program (NRMP) to rank all applicants. We cannot accept applications via email or fax and are unable to respond to any applications outside of ERAS.
