Our Commitment to Safety, Quality and Service Experience
Riverside is committed to delivering patient centered care that consistently supports our mission by ensuring every person, patient, resident and employee receives the highest quality of care, zero harm, the best clinical outcomes and exceptional services. Here are some key indicators of quality healthcare at Riverside:
World-Class Customer Service
- As a partner in your care, you and your family, are our top priority. We believe the patient experience is an important part of the healing process and strive to deliver this through the consistent delivery of excellent quality standards of care. Our comprehensive network of best in class facilities are staffed by our caring and highly-skilled professionals who provide leading-edge therapies built and designed around you.
- As a part of our commitment to improving patient experience, Riverside actively seeks and values your feedback. We conduct ongoing patient experience surveys that help improve and refine our customer service strategy. Quality happens when we care enough to give our very best, all the time, every time.
Clinical Excellence and Outcomes
- For doctors, providers and medical staff, ensuring "quality" means measuring clinical outcomes, adhering to best medical practices and ensuring patient safety. Riverside’s quality and patient experience teams, along with our clinical teams, are dedicated to measuring and analyzing quality and patient safety data and identifying opportunities to improve. A few examples of recent successes in our ongoing high reliability and improvement journey over the past 4 years include:
- 72% decrease in Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI)
- 75% decrease in our composite Harm score
- 23% decrease in readmission to the hospital within 30 days of discharge
- 6% decrease in our hospital mortality rate
- 5% increase in our patient experience survey responses
- Quality care and patient safety are particularly critical for acute-care hospitals like Riverside Regional Medical Center, Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, Riverside Doctors’ Hospital Williamsburg and Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital and zero harm is a top priority. Riverside Health remains committed to improving its quality and patient safety measures, and has been recognized many times for its efforts.
Community Benefit and Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA)
- Another aspect of quality healthcare is community involvement. Our community outreach programs offer early detection and disease prevention screenings at no cost to communities in need. See more about our CHNA here.
Community Partnerships
- Riverside Health sponsors many community events and partner with other organizations, including the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, American Stroke Association and the American Diabetes Association. See more information on our Community efforts here.
