Riverside Regional Medical Center is proud to announce the Cardiovascular Telemetry Unit (CVT) has received the gold designation and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has received the silver designation of the Beacon Award for Excellence by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). The Beacon Award recognizes and honors individual inpatient hospital units who demonstrate excellence in collaborative teamwork, leadership, and evidence-based care practices that result in better patient outcomes and a healthier work environment.

Units that achieve this three-year, three-level award with a gold, silver or bronze designation met national criteria consistent with the American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Recognition Program®, the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award and the National Quality Healthcare Award.
The award program comprises three distinct modules: patient outcomes, work environment and nursing workforce. Award designees showcased documented excellence in patient outcomes, shared governance, team engagement, evidence-based practices, and overall nursing excellence. This award serves as a benchmark for other units striving for similar levels of excellence and commitment to critical care nursing.
