RBHC press release 2022

Today, Riverside Health announces the addition of a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), an outpatient day treatment program where patients can continue to reside in their own homes while having access to an entire hospital-based system of addiction and behavioral health care. This community-based approach will be available at Riverside Behavioral Health Center (RBHC) beginning February 2, 2022 and provide patients with a comfortable and structured setting to focus on optimal outcomes like sobriety.

“Addiction can feel isolating, but it’s something that impacts so many. That is why our goal is to make patients feel comfortable with seeking help and enhancing their resources for living a healthy lifestyle,” said Stacey Johnson, Executive Director, Riverside Behavioral Health Center. “Through our Partial Hospitalization Program, patients will receive the holistic care they deserve with the reassurance of their support system. We’re confident that the flexibility and comfort this new option offers will encourage more Virginians to begin recovery.”

A general PHP care plan consists of six hours of daily treatment across five days each week, including weekly visits with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatrist, weekly individual sessions and group therapy time. As part of this, RBHC patients receive treatment and therapy services in addition to education and lifestyle support – all based on nationally recognized American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) levels of care. Specialists involved include:

● Addiction-specialized Therapists
● Admission Coordinators
● Art Therapists
● Case Managers
● Dietitians
● Peer Recovery Specialists
● Pharmacists
● Psychiatric Providers
● Recreation Therapists

Virginians interested in Riverside’s PHP begin with a comprehensive assessment process where a custom plan is identified. Admission Coordinators work with each person to review individual needs, goals, other short-term recovery efforts and any barriers experienced so teams can recommend positive interventions. Each coordinator works with the RBHC clinical team to make the appropriate level of addiction recovery care is recommended. This could include detoxification, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and general outpatient services. Additionally, patient support systems are a component of the treatment process and are often included one day a week as a part of the healing process.

“Just like any chronic medical condition, clinical treatment excellence is the bare minimum for our behavioral health services. We view compassion and understanding as essential parts of addiction recovery and incorporate them into every patient’s experience. Above all, our goal is your goal - to achieve success at every level and guide you towards a healthy and sustainable recovery.” continued Johnson.
