Riverside Takes Top Spot Twice in Supply Chain Excellence Awards

Newport News, Va. — Riverside Health’s supply chain team will receive multiple awards from Global Healthcare Exchange, LLC (GHX), in a virtual ceremony scheduled for later this month.

For the second year in a row, Riverside holds the No. 1 spot as the top performing provider with fewer than 500 beds. The “U.S. Healthcare Provider of the Year – Small to Medium” award recognizes demonstrated excellence in all areas of content and exception management that allow Riverside’s staff to work smarter and more efficiently.

The “Excellence in Contract Management – Provider” award speaks to Riverside as a leader for process efficiencies and contract optimization through automation — key in reducing healthcare costs.

Riverside is among the top performers in the North American market for both the U.S. Healthcare Provider of the Year and the Contract Management awards.

In addition, for the fifth year in a row, Riverside is listed among the “Best 50” healthcare providers for supply chain excellence. The GHX accolade credits organizations that improve operational performance and drive down costs through supply chain automation.

“Riverside’s commitment to improving operational efficiency and performance corresponds with our dedication to delivering quality care to all of our patients,” said Bob Hornsby, System Director, Supply Chain Management, Riverside Health. “Earning top honors in two categories and being recognized again as a leader in North America for our practices are accomplishments that we take pride in. We will continue to make strides to not only maintain our consistency but to keep improving on behalf of the patients who entrust us with their care.”

GHXcellence Awards recognize those who drive savings and efficiency for their organizations, their trading partners and the healthcare industry. Recipients represent organizations and individuals who maximize supply chain performance through automation, best practices and accuracy that drive down costs and improve patient care.

The GHX Awards ceremony, originally set for April, is now part of a virtual three-day summit from Oct. 27-29.

Earlier this year, Riverside also received the Supply Chain Excellence Award from Premier, Inc., a leading healthcare improvement company, for its high value purchasing practices. Riverside was one of 14 hospitals and health systems nationwide to receive the Supply Chain Excellence Award this year.
