Pam Doshier of The Orchard Earns 2019 National Leadership Award
For second consecutive year, Doshier receives Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award for excellence at Riverside’s healthy living community in Warsaw.

Warsaw, Va. – For the second year in a row, Pam Doshier, Administrator at The Orchard, a Riverside Healthy Living Community, has earned the 2019 Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award from the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA). The prestigious award places The Orchard in the top seven percent of skilled nursing facilities nationwide.

“Receiving the Eli Pick Award two years running is a great honor, as it is a direct reflection of The Orchard team’s unwavering commitment to safety, service quality and the overall care experience,” said Doshier. “As this award and others have demonstrated, we have a culture of continuous improvement at The Orchard, comparing ourselves against benchmarks to ensure we meet or exceed the highest industry standards.”

The ACHCA award is based the premise that facility excellence reflects leadership excellence and recognizes the administrator of record who provided such leadership during the 2018 calendar year.

Three years of skilled nursing facility survey data are examined to determine eligibility, categorized by health, fire safety, and complaint surveys, as well as top quartile performance on designated quality measures. Criteria also includes at least an 80% or greater facility occupancy and a three-year avoidance of a Special Focus Facility status. The award is named in honor of the late visionary Eli Pick, one of ACHCA’s most revered leaders.

Doshier, who joined The Orchard as its administrator in 2011, has more than 35 years of experience and a background in long-term care as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. She holds a Masters in Health Care Administration and is a Certified Dementia Practitioner.

In 2016 Doshier was named Assisted Living Administrator of the Year by the Virginia Health Care Association-Virginia Center for Assisted Living.

The Orchard, which is located in Warsaw near the city of Tappahannock, was one of two Riverside facilities to earn “Best Nursing Home” ratings from U.S. News & World Report. Previously, its skilled nursing care earned a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The Orchard is a recipient of the Silver Quality Award presented by the American Health Care Association.

The Orchard offers assisted living, memory care, short-term respite, nursing home and rehabilitation services to its residents.
