Hill Valley Healthcare Affiliate to Acquire Three Riverside Lifelong Health Facilities

Newport News, Va. — An affiliate of Hill Valley Healthcare will acquire three Riverside Lifelong Health facilities, health system leadership announced today.

The acquisition – which will include The Orchard in Warsaw, Riverside Convalescent Center in West Point and Riverside Rehabilitation Center in Hampton – is expected to take effect on Jan. 1, 2021, but no later than March 1, 2021.

“With changes in our markets, this important decision aligns with our commitment to ensure the long-term success and sustainability of these vital facilities within their communities,” said Bill Downey, CEO, Riverside Health. “Looking ahead, the Lifelong Health division of Riverside remains committed to being a leader in post-acute care.”

Riverside will continue to operate six skilled nursing facilities, three continuing care retirement communities, offer home health services, and provide end-of-life support through palliative care and hospice.

In addition, Riverside’s Center for Excellence in Aging and Lifelong Health continues to bring aging research to the community, helping all who provide older adults with aging-related services offer even more innovative programming.

In the coming weeks, Riverside will work closely with Hill Valley Healthcare to ensure a seamless transition.

“Hill Valley Healthcare is a national operator that specializes in skilled nursing facilities,” said Ed Heckler, Vice President of Riverside’s Lifelong Health division of services. “Their commitment to the care of residents and families in the communities they serve was an important consideration of this sale and agreement.”

The financial terms of the agreement are not being disclosed.
