Four Riverside Health System locations, including three on the Middle Peninsula, received accolades in the 2019 “Best of Virginia” awards presented by Virginia Living Magazine. The prestigious annual reader survey honors the best services, attractions and experiences from across the state.
Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester earned second place honors in the “Best Hospital” category. In January the hospital unveiled the completed portions of a $55 million renovation and expansion that included a new two-story, 54,000-square-foot Surgical and Inpatient Services building, a new main lobby area and other state-of-the-art improvements.
Two family practice providers were also recognized. Riverside White Stone Family Practice received third place honors in the awards’ “Best Family Practice” category, as did Riverside Fishing Bay Family Practice for “Best Pediatric Practice.”
In addition, Riverside’s Hampton Roads Eye Associates practice in Newport News was awarded second place for “Best Optometrist.”
The 2019 “Best of Virginia” awards spanned five geographic regions, presenting nearly 1,600 awards in 107 categories. More than 40,000 ballots were collected from readers.
