Riverside Foundation Announces 2024 Provider and Citizen of the Year

The Riverside Foundation is excited to announce the honorees for the 2025 RemarkaBall, the pinnacle event of the year celebrating achievements in philanthropy.  On March 21, 2025, the Riverside Foundation will honor a group of remarkable individuals who have had a great impact on the community and celebrate their philanthropic endeavors.

This year’s Provider of the Year is Dr. Charles Frazier, a Navy veteran and practicing family physician with nearly 40 years of experience. Dr. Frazier is currently Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Information and Innovation Officer for Riverside Health. His passion for educating future doctors, caring for patients, and using technology to improve that care is apparent to every life he touches and shows in how he approaches medicine, friends and family.

Riverside will also honor TowneBank, this year’s Citizen of the Year, featuring G. Robert Aston, Jr., Alexis Swann and Gordon L. Gentry, who understand the importance of giving back and supporting health and wellness. TowneBank upholds the tenets of a community bank through outreach and philanthropy, and this extends to their employees and the places they call home.

As the first African-American Executive Vice President at Riverside, and former President of Riverside Regional Medical Center, Golden Bethune Hill, a nurse herself, advanced nursing education and used her determination and passion for outreach to fulfill her dreams of providing critical care to underserved communities. Being honored in a special tribute, her husband, Charlie W. Hill will be sharing her story and celebrating the dreams they achieved together, including the Charlie W. and Golden Bethune Hill Community Health Clinic in Newport News.

The Riverside Foundation will honor these champions at the Newport News Marriott at City Center. It will be attended by Foundation supporters, patients and their families, elected officials, corporate partners, and Riverside leaders, and aims to strengthen services while honoring all of Riverside’s nearly 10,000 team members – true health care heroes who make a remarkable impact.
