Riverside's Family Medicine Residency Program

Riverside Family Medicine Residency, founded in 1971, is one of the oldest family medicine programs in the country. Our strong collegial atmosphere and emphasis on information technology allows us to provide the highest-quality care for our patients and the greatest access to evidence-based research for our residents. Our program is committed to producing the finest family medicine physicians, and we are proud to honor that commitment with our sponsors at Riverside Regional Medical Center and Virginia Commonwealth University, as well as our affiliates at Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Family Medicine Residency Program

Riverside Family Medicine Residency, accredited on January 23, 1971, has graduated over 600 family physicians. A high faculty-to-resident ratio allows residents independence in managing their own patients and creates a stellar teaching environment conducive to practicing direct patient care. The strong collegial atmosphere we enjoy is a unique trademark of our program and we continue to produce some of the finest family medicine physicians in the nation.

Trauma Simulation

Riverside Simulation Training Lab

The Simulation Lab encompasses 4 dedicated clinical areas including a Medical/Surgical/Intensive Care Ward, Labor & Delivery Room, Emergency Medicine/Trauma Bay, and a Procedural Skills Suite. The Lab utilizes various simulation modalities and an integrated Audio-Visual learning management system with debriefing capabilities to provide a robust and relevant educational experience.

All applications to our residency program must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We utilize the National Residency Match Program (NRMP) to rank all applicants. We cannot accept applications via email or fax and are unable to respond to any applications outside of ERAS.
