One’s heartbeat, memory, taste, sight and touch are determined and coordinated through the nervous system. The nervous system is composed of two major subsystems; the central nervous system, which consists of the brain and spinal cord, controlling thought, behavior and movement; and the peripheral nervous system, which relays information to the central nervous system, transmitting messages to muscles and glands. Under the direction of board-certified neurologist, Dr. Robert Paschall, Riverside offers both inpatient and outpatient neurological services, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders.
Neurodiagnostics services include routine, asleep and 24 hour ambulatory EEGs as well as nerve conduction studies, EMGs and evoked potential studies. The advanced technology, skills and training of the technologists at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital have enabled the Neurodiagnostics Lab to be one of the first in the country to be accredited by ABRET, the nationally and internationally recognized credentialing board for EEG facilities.
