Limit bad fats, one bite at a time

Sure, you know that saturated and trans fats are bad for you. You also know that changing your eating habits can be tough. The good news is that you don't have to overhaul your diet overnight. Start by limiting the amount of solid fats, such as butter, margarine and shortening, you add to food when cooking and serving. Top your baked potato with salsa or low-fat yogurt rather than butter. Use low-sugar fruit spread on your toast instead of margarine. When it comes to heart-healthy eating, even minor changes can make a difference.
