Helps manage transportation department and helps supervise staff. Participates in daily IDT meeting. Helps with responsibility for day-to-day operations for fleet of specially equipped vans for transporting adults to PACE site, back home, and to appointments or outings. Helps plan, develop, communicate, and monitor transportation routes, Drivers Schedules and participant program pick-up/delivery assignments, ensures vehicle maintenance is scheduled and completed. Helps coordinate arrival and departure times and schedules with other departments. EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent required. Knowledge of Virginia motor vehicle laws and regulations. LICENSURE: Valid Driver's License with 5 years safe driving record required per standards. Must maintain a positive safe driving record per standards. Must be able to pass the Firemans Fund Driver MVR Evaluation Guidelines. Completion of First Aid and CPR course will be required before working independently/unsupervised with participants and must be maintained throughout employment. EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 1 year experience working with the frail and elderly population. Experience in transporting persons with special mobility needs required. A minimum of 3 years experience in a health care setting, or 3 years transportation experience required. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Subject to extensive travel. Ability to perform wheelchair and ambulatory transfers between home and van, and Center and van for participants weighing 300 pounds plus. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, climb, bend, push, pull, carry and crouch. Physical effort includes reaching above shoulders and lifting over 50 pounds. Ability to operate wheel chair lifts. Good hand/eye/foot coordination in driving vehicle. Must have the ability to speak clearly in order to communicate effectively to staff and participants. Ability to interact with and get along well with a variety of people in both individual and group settings. Good interpersonal and customer service skills. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Must be able to communicate and concentrate intensely at times. Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively.
