Proposed new Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital revealed at Accomack County Planning Commission meeting
Accomac, VA - The site plan and elevations for the proposed replacement hospital were revealed this evening at the Accomack County Planning Commission meeting as part of the request for a conditional use permit. The proposed hospital is the only rural hospital being built in Virginia over the next two years.
"Having an illustration of how the new hospital will look is very exciting. It shows us just how far we have come in our plans to expand Riverside Shore Memorial's services to our community," C. Lee Davis, Vice Chairman of the Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, said. "The physicians, staff and Board of Directors at the hospital are dedicated to providing high quality healthcare now and in the decades to come," Davis continued.
The 160,000 square foot (approximately) building will have 78 inpatient beds, a 24/hour emergency department, a diagnostic center with fixed MRI and CT scanner, three operating rooms, and outpatient services. Cancer care services will be administered in the 40,000 square foot (approximately) medical office building.
The Riverside mission, to care for others as we would care for those we love is accomplished through the Riverside Care Difference. "The Riverside Care Difference puts the patient at the center of everything we do. This will be very obvious to any person who uses Riverside services on the Shore," said Joe Zager, Administrator, Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. "I am looking forward to working with all the Riverside Team Members and the medical providers on the Eastern Shore," Zager continued.
On the Eastern Shore, Riverside's services are anchored by Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital, Riverside Shore Rehabilitation Center and our Riverside Medical Group Doctor's offices. Services include: Emergency Care, Critical Care, Newborn Care, Cancer Care, Diagnostic Imaging, Family Medicine and Specialty Physicians, Long Term Care, Physical Therapy and Home Care.
